About Mahavatar Babaji Cave

Mahavatar Babaji cave is the Most Spiritual Caves in Himalayan Region, which is the origin of Kriya yoga and Where Yoga Guru Lahiri Mahasaya got Kriya Yoga teachings directly from Mahavatar Baba Ji. Every day many pilgrims and Kriya Yogis that follow different gurus visit the cave.

To understand the historical Significance of the cave, it is suggested that devotees read Chapter 34 "Materialising a Palace in the Himalayas" from the Autobiography of a Yogi, and "A Blessing from Mahavatar Babaji" from Only Love by Sri Sri Daya Mata.

Mahavtar Babaji's Cave area is the place where Babaji initiated Lahiri Mahasaya in 1861 and is the birth of Kriya Yoga in this Dwapara Yuga. All the Kriyabans in the world can trace their lineage to this event. (2011 - The 150th Anniversary of Kriya Yoga)

Paramahansa Yogananda wrote a book “Autobiography of a Yogi '' on Baba which describes all the events, activities related to Babaji and about Kriya Yoga. Mahavatar Baba  tough Kriya Yoga to Yogiraj Lahiri Mahasaya who was deputed in Ranikhet as accountant of British Government , he stay long with babaji in this cave and got skilled in Kriya yoga, Baba ji Instruct him to spread kriya yoga techniques around the world.

Baba ji Cave situated in Doonagiri Hills of Kumaon region in Uttarakhand, Dwarahat is easily accessible from Ranikhet and Kathgodam. Dwarahat to Mahavatar Babaji Cave TourKukuchina is approx. 25 km and from there to babaji cave around 3.5 km.  Kukuchina is also famous for Pandavkholi which is stay place of Pandavas during Agyatvas , they stay a long time here during that time Kauravas searching them and reach till Kukuchina and return from here, that time onwards this place called kukuchina.

There is a quiet and divine environment around the cave, Devotees visit here, meditate here and after blessing return from here, around the world and devotees visit this place, Most of the people like to visit the Holy shrine Badrinath after this Tour.

Tour Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive Kathgodam and Drive to Dwarahat : 115 km : 4-5 Hours

Morning arrive at Kathgodam by train or Bus, we will pick up you from Kathgodam will drive towards Dwarahat via Ranikhet. On the way will see many beautiful hill stations, Villages and Himalayan views, slowly as you close to dwarahat cool breeze will feel you energetic. Visit YSS Ashram after reaching Dwarahat   Night Stay in Dwarahat.

Day 02: Dwarahat  to Kukuchina – Babaji cave visit and return – 20 km Drive /3km Trek

Today I will drive early in the morning; first 20 km till Kukuchina by drive and from there 3 km trek to Babaji Cave. Trek takes 1-2 hours depends upon devotee. After reaching in Cave devotee meditate here 1-2 hours and gets blessing of Baba ji, later return to Kukuchina and drive for Dwarahat.

Day 03: Dwarahat to Kathgodam : 115 km : 4-5 Hours

Today last day for Mahavatar babaji Cave Tour, Morning after breakfast drive  for Kathgodam via Ranikhet, Visit Ranikhet and Almora and drive for Kathgodam, we will drop you in Kathgodam.
